New “Miss Ostfriesland” having more than 100,000 liters milk

It was an exciting atmosphere in Leer last Wednesday as the traditional show “Excellent-Schau” took place to elect the new “Miss Ostfriesland”.

Honourable Mention Godewind daughter ZR Edelweiss

Of course every show has a special thing making it unique. When it comes to the Excellent-Schau it is certainly the percentage of old and well-earned cows presenting themselves as fit animals. One cow acceded to the throne this year attending the show for the fifth time already, the Starleader daughter ViG Grace owned by Jannes Vienna from Hatzum. Having a current lifetime production of 106,750 kg milk, she firstly won the class of cows having a lifetime production of 90,000 kg milk and more and then finally convinced the judge Jan Steegink from the Netherlands who chose her as grand champion.

She was followed by the champion cow old on the reserve position, Peru (s. Odyssey) of family Hobbie from Kibitznest. The champion young became “honorable mention”, Godewind daughter ZR Edelweiß from the farm Rohdemann in Berumerfehn.

There even was a double in the young cow classes for Godewind. Party (s. Godewind) owned by Tamme Hobbie from Carolinensiel became reserve champion.

The well-known Goldday daughter Finesse of family Hobbie from Kiebitznest became reserve champion of the medium cow classes while this position in the old classes was acquired by the Toystory daughter Adelheid owned by Hilko and Linda Vohs from Lintelermarsch.

A great-granddaughter of ViG Grace, ViG Tara (s. Doorman), dominated and won the heifer classes. Iowa daughter KHL Maura owned by the Jakob and Kleemann GbR in Lütetsburg became heifer reserve champion.

Not only the grand champion of the show is already well-known at the Excellent-Schau, but also Reaktor daughter Hauke of family Kleemann from Burhafe successfully attended this show several times and, again, was the cow having the highest lifetime production this year. She currently has produced an impressive lifetime production of 130,000 kg milk.

Besides the show, two strong progeny groups of the bulls Brentano and Disanto were shown in Leer as well. Detailed progeny reports can be obtained on our website under “Progeny” in the menu “News”.

We congratulate all attendees and breeders on these great achievements and VOSt on a successful show – we wish lots of success with genetics made in Germany in future.
