Danish Holstein show in Herning – Red Holstein at its best
As every year, the Danish Landsskuet took place in Herning from July 5th until 7th 2018 and the annual Danish national show was held there. Our red sires were represented outstandingly by daughters that also reached good ranks.
As at every show, the youngest cows started in Herning as well. Among the Red Holsteins first calvers, an Effort daughter owned by Bertus van Veldhuisen and Corine van den Bosch from Legumkloster won against their competitors and dominated her class. She was followed by an Apoll P daughter owned by Kristian Sloth from Lemvig on rank three in her group.
The second heifer class was won by a Label P daughter presented by Svend Hestbæk from Aalestrup and she was then awarded the best udder title of her class and best young cow.
In the medium cow classes of cows with two or three lactations, there was a double in the first class both for Colour P and the exhibitors, the farm Stortoft from Henne. The champion cow of the group was also awarded for the best udder of her class. In the group that followed then was a Label P daughter. Owned by Per Øris Høgh from Møldrup, she only had to admit defeat against one competitor and reached a second rank, ahead of a Can Be daughter of Kim Fagerlin from Tjele, who ranked third and became best udder cow of the class.
A Tonikum daughter of Martin Christensen from Sunds became best old cow (4 lactations and more) of the show and she had the best udder of the class.
The old cow classes are always impressive, but a really special thing may be the classes of lifetime production. A Kairo daughter presented by Kim Fagerlin became captured the champion title of this class and got awarded for the best udder of the class, too.
There were not only competitions for lactating cows in Herning, but also heifer classes were judged. Among the Black & White heifers, a Chavor daughter of Henning Bjerregard from Skjern dominated her class and there were two third ranks among Red Holstein: a Apoll P daughter of Per Øris Høgh from Møldrup and a Cape P daughter from the barn of Gert Bülow from Ringstedt.
We are happy about these great achievements and ranks and congratulate the breeders and owners wishing all the best and lots of success with Genetics Made in Germany in future!
