German Dairy Show on June 26th and 27th 2019 in Oldenburg
In June it is time again and the National Show for Holstein and Red Holstein will take place in Oldenburg once more.
After the umbrella organizations in cattle breeding merged into a federal association, the National Show is also developed further. Therefore, in 2019 the Red Cattle and Jersey breeds as well as Fleckvieh and Brown Swiss will be represented at the next show in Oldenburg. Consequently, the event receives a new name and is called “German Dairy Show” from 2019.
The German Dairy Show still remains the National Show for Holstein and Red Holstein. Initially, there will be competitions on a smaller scale for the other breeds. But, at the end of the show a “Supreme Champion” will still be crowned across all breeds.
Because of the greater breed variety there will be no auction at the German Dairy Show. This will allow the time for the competitions of the “new” breeds on the first evening. In addition, the judging decision on the Champion heifers for Holstein and Red Holstein will be brought forward from the second day.
Furthermore, the progeny groups will be presented as usual, and, besides the competitions, they are the center of attention on the evening of the first day. The progeny groups will be presented in the small EWE arena. The Breeders’ Night will take place there as well as in the adjoining lounge. So you can look at the progeny groups in a relaxed atmosphere and actively participate in the Breeders’ Night at the same time. The showcasing of the daughter groups in the ring will follow on the second day in smaller numbers.
A further change will be the grouping of the older cow classes, which will not be arranged according to the number of calvings but the lifetime production. Also new is the distinction of particularly successfully operating farms. Common parameters will be used as criteria. All herd book farms of member organizations are eligible for selection.
So make sure to add the date to your calendar now!
