Show “Excellent-Schau” in Leer
On Thursday, March 14th 2018, many people interested in breeding and shows met again in Leer, East Friesland, in order to attend this year’s competition for the popular trophy and title “Miss Ostfriesland”.
Besides an excellent show program there were also presented two progeny groups of the sires Godewind and Sirius. Detailed progeny reports can be obtained on our website under “Progeny” in the menu “News”.
As usual, the show started with the heifers. Here, Godewind daughter ZR Edelweiß from the barn Rohdemann in Berumerfehn dominated the class and was also chosen as winner of the progeny groups. The title for the best young cow with two calvings was awarded to Insemarie, a Numero Uno daughter owned by the family Kleemann from Burhafe.
Numerous old cows were able to demonstrate at this year’s show that beauty is no question of age, and so did the new “Miss Ostfriesland 2018”, ZR Imke (s. Goldwyn). Having captured the title already in 2013, she asserted herself again this time and thus was awarded the grand champion title. The judge Stefan Widmer from Switzerland gave her preference to Goldday daughter Finesse, which previously could win the medium class of cows with three and four calves.
Being the second oldest cow of the show and having a lifetime production of more than 120,000 kg of milk, Reaktor daughter Hauke of the farm Kleemann was able to convince. After a class win she again, after 2017, secured the title “reserve champion old”.
We congratulate all breeders and owners on these great achievements and wish lots of success with Genetics Made in Germany in future!
