RUW Show 2017 – Red Holstein at its best
RUW held its member show taking place every two years on Thursday, October 26th 2017.
Thanks to breed diversity in the breeding area, Holsteins, Red Holsteins, Angler and Fleckvieh/Simmental attended the show in Hamm and competed for the grand champion title. The judges Christian Fischer, Martin Biederbick and Jost Grünhaupt got their hands full.
As tradition, the show started with the youngest attendees and so Martin Biederbick had to pick his favorite cows from the strong Red Holstein heifers. He decided on Mad Max daughter THD Romad extremely strong for type, owned by the breeding collective Wiewer, Köster and Wiethege. The red beauty could already excel at this year’s DHV Show. In Hamm, Ready P daughter Lady Rose strong for body and owned by Meinolf Heihoff Schwede became reserve champion.
Among the Black & White heifers it was Christian Fischer’s turn and he chose WR Maxima (s. Ladd P) of Ludger Wiewer as his champion heifer followed by framy NH Princessa (s. Mascalese) of Matthias Nosbisch.

When the junior champion was elected, THD Romad won and made history – a red heifer became junior champion of this show for the first time!
The medium classes were the biggest category of the show where cows with two and three calvings competed against each other. Once again, it was the red cows that absolutely convinced in this age class and the streak of good luck for Ludger Wiewer continued. So this famous breeder had a double win being the champion WR Minnessota (s. Ladd) and the reserve champion WR Brandy (s. Aikman).
Among the Holsteins of the same age group, the framy and very harmonic Goldboy daughter EsH Esperanza from the breeding farm Engel in Hetzerath won beyond the stylish BaS Neymar (s. Fever).

The highlight of each show is the old cow classes probably. Cows having seven to twelve calvings competed against each other here urging the judges to make difficult decisions. Among the Red Holsteins, the Destry daughters Zarina, owned by Nosbisch und RüBru GbR as well as KOE Feeling of Friedrich Köster got a double win.
The Holsteins were dominated by the Douglas daughter Louisa of Berthold Kandel and ranking beside her was the smallest cow of the class, NH Formillion, a Million daughter of Nosbisch.

Besides Holstein and Red Holstein, Simmental and Jersey cows were judged as well. Among the Simmental cows, Wille daughter Birte owned by Ludger Specker won while WIT Damaris (s. Valentino) owned by Thomas Wiethege captured the title among the Jerseys.
As odds-on favorite, WR Minnessota became the shining grand champion of the show.
On occasion of the show, RUW also presented three progeny groups of the sires Ferrari, Nugget RDC and Epochal. Detailed progeny reports can be obtained on our website under “Progeny” in the menu “News”.
We congratulate all breeders and owners and wish lots of success with Genetics Made in Germany in future!
